What is SCORE (Scout Resources)?
SCORE stands for SCOut Resources and is the official shop of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). It operates as an association with headquarters (Scout Resources International) at the World Scout Bureau in Geneva, Switzerland, and an operational centre (Scout Resources, Sàrl) close to Annecy, France.
Who is SCORE for?
- All of the 28 million Scouts who are members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in more than 217 countries and territories.
- National Scout organizations that are members of WOSM.
- Authorized Scout Shops.
- Everyone (Scout or not!) looking for high-quality outdoor equipment.
What does SCORE offer?
- Items bearing the official World Scout Emblem and Badge.
- WOSM educational materials and other Scouting publications.
- A wide variety of items for camping and outdoor activities.
- Souvenir items of World Scout events.
- Items from national Scout associations.
What is SCORE’s mission?
1. To promote and protect the identity of the World Organization of the Scout Movement through the use of the World Scout Emblem on numerous items and its presence on members’ uniforms (SCORE is responsible for managing licences for all commercial use of the World Scout Emblem).
2. To respond to the needs and expectations of national Scout associations and/or their Scout Shops by proposing a variety of products and services.
3. To help support the work of the World Organization of the Scout Movement financially so that it can offer better Scouting to more young people, particularly in developing and emerging countries.
Who are members of SCORE?
National Scout organizations and Scout Shops are invited to become members of the SCORE Association (many already are) in order benefit fully from the advantages it offers and to take part in its management. To obtain more information about membership (conditions and statutes), please contact us.
Why was SCORE created?
Several resolutions adopted by World Scout Conferences (WOSM’s general assembly) encourage the World Scout Bureau to increase its revenue through sources other than just through membership fees. One such source concerns sales and royalties.
Based on the success of the Länchid Club, and an international auditor’s report (mandated to analyse the situation), the World Scout Committee created SCORE International in Geneva in March 1995.
Who runs SCORE?
SCORE is run by a board composed of representatives of its members (Scout Shops), the World Scout Committee and the World Scout Bureau. It functions in accordance with prevailing legislation in Geneva, Switzerland, and in France.
What is SCORE’s ethic?
SCORE is guided by strict business ethics in the spirit of Scouting’s fundamental principles. These are expressed in SCORE’s statutes.
SCORE seeks to participate in the development of society, at local, national and international level, and respects the dignity of mankind in its dealings, whether an individual is a member of the Association, a client, an employee, a supplier or a partner.
SCORE’s employees work in a climate of mutual trust and are expected to be loyal, frank, honest, and act with integrity in their dealings with others. They are faithful to their commitments and adhere to the Scout Law.
Out of respect for the integrity of nature, SCORE strives to offer products that have a minimum impact on the environment, whether in terms of the manufacture, use or recycling of products.
Out of respect for the dignity of mankind, and in accordance with a recommendation made by the World Scout Conference, SCORE does not offer products that knowingly exploit child labour. In order to uphold this principle, SCORE generally seeks the assistance of national Scout organizations (and their Scout Shops) in identifying suppliers.
